Psalm 91 Defines an Oasis for Tired Christian Workers (4.4)

The concept of “REFUGE” is significant, especially in the OT.  And it’s especially huge for King David as he faced the challenges of his life.  What challenges are your

jesus-shepherd-soul-rest-150x150facing these days?  Getting worn out and beaten down?  How are you handling that difficult situation?  May I suggest a visit to a Life Impact Oasis or one of our partner care centers would be a REFUGE for you in the midst of the storm.

Here are some characteristics of a Life Impact Oasis reflected by Psalm 91, a tremendous Psalm about God being our Refuge.  (quotes from The Message)

  • An Oasis is a Place to Meet God.  “You who sit down in the High God’s presence, spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow.”  Our Oases are quiet places, excellent for contemplation and connecting with the Father.  As Hosts we love to see our guests taking time to be with God and we’ll ensure that happens if that’s what you want.
  • An Oasis is a Safe Place to Share and Process.  “His huge outstretched arms protect you — under them you’re perfectly safe.”  God provides protection and safety for us in the midst of our tribulations.  We create an Oasis to be a “safe” place for you to rest and download confidentially.
  • An Oasis is a Place to Gain Perspective.  “You’ll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance”  How valuable is it in life to periodically be in a place where you can look at something from a distance?  That provides perspective on the situation.  And we all need perspective on our relationship with the Lord, our personal life, our family, our calling, and our ministry.  Because an Oasis is in a “different” place than you are normally operating, going there and getting the quiet time to reflect allows you to gain perspective.
  • An Oasis is a Place of Honor for you.  You are a HERO.  “Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times; I’ll rescue you, and then throw you a party.”  We won’t necessarily have balloons for you when you arrive, but we certainly pray for your arrival and time with us.  In fact we pray the Lord will send to our Oases only those we can encourage, bless, and help.  We know we can’t help and strengthen everyone.

So if you are moved to come and show up at our front door — you are one of those He’s sending.  We see you as a Hero!  You are putting your lives on the line for the Kingdom cause, using your abilities, energy, and strengths in the midst of your weaknesses for that purpose.  We want you to come as you are, and to leave strengthened for your task.  You are one or two of our Heroes.

We hope to see you at one of our Oases.  Our website shows you the locations of our places as well as others we recommend.  The calendars show you the availability.  And remember, the next time a storm of life and ministry hits you, “‘If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,’ says God, ‘I’ll get you out of any trouble.  I’ll give you the best of care if you’ll only get to know and trust me.'” — Psalm 91:14-15
